If you are not in the Express Post network it can take longer for purchases to arrive than 'Express'! **** HOW TO FIT A NEW PAN SEAL KIT (never fear, I'll include a set with the kit!) Make sure the pan is clean and cool before starting the repair. You don't want any bread residue getting in your way. Turn the pan upside down and ease the E-Clip off the end of the shaft. What our Technician does is get 2 thin flat screwdrivers – a small one to put into the gap of the circlip and give it a slight twist to separate, and another one to ease under it to help lift it off! There will be a new E-Clip in the Pan Seal Kit however remove the old one gently so it doesn't go flying! Remove the butterfly drive and put somewhere safe. (In this example the butterfly drive is damaged, yours will hopefully be intact). Take a punch which is no bigger than the shaft and, with care, hammer the shaft out of the pan. It should fall on your workbench. Keep this safe - you'll need it later! We find that the best way to remove the existing brass bearing is to take an 8mm socket with extension from our tool kit and use that as a hole punch. Using a regular punch is difficult because of the hole in the bearing! With care, hammer the worn bearing out of the pan and discard. Take some steel wool and clean out the underside of the bearing hole. Do not use the steel wool on the inside as you may scratch the teflon! Turn the pan over. Take a flat head screwdriver and remove any residue from the stepped down edge of the shaft hole. Take the new bearing and push into the hole from the inside, with the wide part at the top. With care, hammer the new bearing into the pan evenly until it is flush with the rim inside the hole. We use a 10mm socket with extension for this task. At this time, set the pan aside. Take the old seal, the old washers and old C-clip off the shaft and discard. Use steel wool to clean up the shaft. It would also be advisable to take a fine metal file and gently smooth any burred edges off the shaft. Take the new C-Clip and fit onto the shaft into the centre groove as pictured. Take one of the new red washers and fit onto the shaft at the end which has the smaller recess. Place the shaft into the pan from the inside with the red washer/small recess end down. Hold the shaft in place and turn the pan upside down. Place the other red washer over the exposed part of the shaft. Place the butterfly drive onto the pan as pictured. Take the E-Clip and resecure the butterfly drive onto the shaft - it should snap into a groove at the bottom of the shaft. Turn the pan right way up. Take the new seal from the kit and fit into the pan using even pressure from both thumbs. You can use a smidge of sewing machine oil on the rim to lubricate if required. DO NOT USE COOKING OIL!
